Hog Roast Ilkley Caters A Wonderfully Spooky Baby Shower!

Hog Roast IlkleySo, we know it’s not Halloween just yet… but we’re officially in full spooky mode thanks to last weekend’s baby shower!

Soon-to-be parents, Mia and Evan, are big fans of all things black, bat-shaped, and wonderfully weird. So, naturally, they decided to celebrate the pending arrival of their baby girl in proper gothic fashion – with a baby shower that would make Beetlejuice himself jealous.

And yep, Hog Roast Ilkley was there to feed the (undead?) masses. 65 guests, to be specific.

From the second we arrived, we knew this one was going to be different. There was a big sign placed front and centre that said, ‘’A Little Ghoul is Brewing,” and honestly, it kind of set the tone perfectly. Black balloons everywhere. White ones too. Bat cutouts dangling from pretty much every corner. Even the party games got the goth treatment (there was even one involving fake spiders, and no, we didn’t ask questions).

Now, onto the important bit – the food. Mia and Evan had gone for Hog Roast Ilkley’s Southern Slow Roast Menu, which, not to brag, always gets people talking. On the grill we had smoky BBQ pork butt, Cajun-roasted chickens (full of flavour, nice bit of heat), sticky pork ribs that required several napkins per person, and our veggie-friendly grilled halloumi and veg kebabs, which brought the colour and flavour.

Hog Roast IlkleyAs for the sides, we kept things classic with creamy potato salad, crunchy coleslaw, and a tray of mixed sweet potato and regular fries, loaded up with salt, vinegar, and a whole buffet of  Sauce Shop sauces that the guests had a great time experimenting with.

The guests were incredible at this event. Full of laughs, dressed in everything from black lace to skeleton prints, and just up for a good time. We had people coming back for seconds, thirds, one guy even tried to sneak off with a few extra ribs for the road. No judgment from us!

At the end of it all, everyone gave us a huge thank you (and a round of applause, which was unexpected and lovely).

Baby showers might not usually be our spookiest gigs, but this one? We won’t forget it any time soon.

Got a celebration coming up in East Yorkshire? Gothic, glittery, or anything in between, Hog Roast Ilkley’s got you covered.
